Contamination Monitoring
Problem: Offshore wireline formation testing (WFT) in oil and gas reservoirs can generate massive costs due to contaminated formation fluid samples.
- There is limited data that can indicate if a fluid sample is clean prior to a lab analysis.
- A solution requires interpreting the fluid quality in real-time with no clear measurement available.
Method: Senslytics app flexibly ingested between 22-38 variables and determined which were most relevant and best indicated the state of fluid contamination at any given time.
Results: Senslytics accurately predicted when clean formation samples could be taken and when operations needed to be adjusted to be successful in all 11 shadow trials.
Potential savings of $3M per well, with $750k in savings just from reduced sampling time.
